What a Great Week

Business seams to keep getting better and better for our little shoppe. My mom can hardly sew for herself these days. But that is truly a wonderful thing. I wish I could help out more. Perhaps she'll hire an employee soon.

Tuesday brought in one of our largest shipments ever. Three shipments at once in fact. The shelves are now bursting with loads of beautiful new fabrics.

It was late in the day when finally shot some pictures of these great new prints. The shadows where heavy, but you can clearly see the potential.

Imagine a lovely handbag, a pencil skirt or perhaps some cheerful new pillows for the sofa. These fibers are begging to be stitched. Personally, I plan to re-cover the cushions of my most recent thrift store find. Amy Butler's "bright buds" in ivory would be the perfect compliment to its danish modern lines.

And Heather Bailey! Wow, her newest duo Pop Garden & Bijoux is so fun and vibrant. These prints are playful yet romantic, with undertones of vintage tattoo art. Loyal customer Trisha plans to make a pair of pants for her precious daughter Ruthie. Perhaps with ball fringe around the bottoms. How sweet, can't wait to see them! Hopefully we'll have a picture of those to share with you in the near future.

Also...
... the first half of our Michael Miller order is here as well. These prints are quite diverse and all very fun. We just love the vintage kitchen print for aprons, tea towels or even a skirt. There's just SEW much to SEW.

You can see more pictures of all our shoppe, the wonderful fabrics we carry, our projects, inspiration and more in our Photo Gallery.

Just getting started...

So here we are trying to get this blog together so that we can share with the world who we are and what we do. First off Sew To Speak is an actual, physical store, located in Columbus, Ohio at
4610 N. High Street in Clintonville.
We are a do it yourself style shoppe for apparel and home decor. We offer lots of unique fabrics, fun patterns, books, sewing classes and more.

And you might be wondering who are "we"? We are... shoppe owner and awesome crafter Anita Bowman, and myself April Rhodes, daughter of Anita, shoppe helper and bloggster spokesperson (for lack of a better title). Also we must introduce the third generation, my daughter and often our inspiration, Aelyn Virginia. Fondly known as our Squishy. Seen below on her first quilt, made by Anita(known to Squishy as Grammy, like the awards)

This large scale baby quilt is made up almost entirely of Amy Butler fabric. Amy is one of our favorite designers along with the wonderful Anna Maria Horner, Alexander Henry, Joel Dewberry, Heather Bailey, Denyse Schmidt and more. You can find all of these designer's fabrics in our shoppe. In fact Friday's UPS delivery just brought in the latest collection from Amy Butler, August Fields. Also this coming week we expect a huge shipment of gorgeous new wares, including Michael Miller fabrics, new Heather Bailey and more new Amy Butler.

So that's us... very exciting stuff happening here.
Drop by again soon. Please. Thanks - Sew To Speak
