Figgy's and My Learning Curve.

Friday already.
Quickly catching up. The sale went wonderfully last week. We have the most lovely customers. I was fortunate to spend some of Friday and most of Saturday in the shoppe. I left feeling so good and thought 'I've had several retail/customer service gigs but none have been as enjoyable as this'. All the people that came through the doors seamed to be genuinely kind and cheerful. I mentioned this to my mother, thinking that it had been an exceptional few days, she said "that's how it always is". Amazing. Thanks to all of you for making her days, and mine, so rewarding.
While on the subject of great customers I have to share the
story of my mishap at the cutting table. Busy last Friday, I decided to help mom out and cut fabric for Shelly and her mother Jane. I'm still getting the hang of things, so jokingly I asked
mom if I made her nervous. She said no, asked me if I was nervous, I said no. Short story shorter, I under cut two of Jane's selections. Darn. What's worse is that we didn't realize it until a day later. Thank goodness for forgiveness. In the end we made it right for her, and later I used a sharpy to mark all the fractions of a yard on mom's cutting mat.

More about Shelly and Jane... amazing customers, possibly fabricaholics, extremely talented mother/daughter duo. These two sell handcrafted clothing out of their homes, on Etsy, and through hosted open houses. Shelly made my daughter her first birthday dress, seen here and more here. Her label "Figgy's" (an adorable play on her last name, Figueroa) is brilliant as it is sweet. A few more samples of her work below...

Shelly and Jane will be having a Fall trunk show on September 12th. I'll try to have more details on that soon. You can also check out their website at www.figgyskids.com.

Gorgeous "Garden Party"

As if a SALE is not enough. There are many reasons to stop by the shoppe this weekend. So many reasons to SEW!!!
We received our shipment of the new Anna Maria Horner "Garden Party" over a week ago, and while preparing for vacation and everything else I never got around to giving these gorgeous prints the proper post they deserve. Anna Maria is my favorite designer right now. I can't get enough of her. I read her blog religiously. She is wonderfully fresh and inspiring. Just look at these these prints! They are so rich, saturated with color . . . yummy.

Saluda, NC

I said there would be some vacation pictures to share. Here's a few highlights...

Aelyn watches while her uncle Rick, friend Chris and other tourist skid down "Sliding Rock" in The Blue Ridge Mountains, NC.

We stayed just outside of Asheville, NC in The Saluda Mountains. It was beautiful. There was lots to do and see. For the most part we were all too busy enjoying ourselves to document it. However, I did get some pictures of a great little shop in downtown Saluda. Random Arts.
Anita talks shoppe with Random Arts owner Jane Powell.

Loved your ribbons Jane!

We had fun.
