Mini Art Quilt with Jennifer A. Reis

Jennifer A. Reis, currently art faculty and gallery director at Morehead State University in Kentucky, actively exhibits her embellished textile artwork at venues such as Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, The National Quilt Museum, Dairy Barn Arts Center, and Southern Ohio Museum. Promotions regarding her work have been featured in Art in America, ArtForum, and FiberArts magazines, and she is a featured artist in Creative Quilting with Beads, a Lark Books publication. As a teaching artist, she conducts workshops on embellished textiles nationally, including the Society for Contemporary Craft, Craft Alliance and CraftSummer at Miami University. Workshop Description:
Spend an afternoon exploring the infinite possibilities of using fabric, thread, beads and other embellishments to create your own Mini Art Quilt. Textile artist Jennifer Reis will lead an afternoon workshop on basic and advanced hand-worked art quilting techniques, teaching non-traditional methods of quilting, appliqué, embroidery and embellishing. Using techniques like raw appliqué, thread embroidery and quilting, and embellishing with shi-sha mirrors, beads and found objects, students will create an individually designed embellished textile mini artwork. All techniques are hand-worked, emphasizing non-traditional sewing and quilting, and is open to sewing novices and experts alike. All supplies included! Skill level: Beginner to Advanced
