Also JUST IN:

Joel Dewberry's gorgeous new line "Modern Meadow."

As you may have already heard me mention, I am infatuated with these!!! I am racking my brain for the perfect project to feature them in but I just can't narrow it down to one.
They are so beautiful with a modern simplicity but a very nostalgic feel. The tiny flowers make me feel happy and I just wish I could be sitting in that sweet meadow right now, wearing a springy little dress made from these dreamy fibers.

And an adorable, mixed grouping from Michael Miller.

I didn't know these had come in and when I spotted them on the self yesterday, I immediately pulled them down to shoot pictures. Saying out loud 'Oh my goodness' and 'Ohh, these are so cute' and 'Oh I love these so much' and 'awwww.' Janelle must have thought I'd lost it, but they really are just too precious (and with that she agrees)!!!
I'm also brainstorming on what to make from these little critter prints... Aelyn does need some new spring skirts.... as if I don't have enough on my to do list already! Ahhh...
If only I had about 10 more hours in my day... I'd be sewing up a storm!

I'm currently working on my first ever quilt, a Dresden plate. I am taking Mary's class and desperately trying to keep up, while I choose to make mine extra large! There is lots of hand sewing to be done and it is currently occupying all of my sewing time. But it's looking pretty good thus far and I know the final result will be very rewarding.

Well now I'm gonna hop off to do a little of that right now, while my little ladies still napping!
'til next time,
:) April

23 days...

Long time no blog....
My sincere apologies.

Please don't assume that because I haven't posted there is not much going on around here.
There's certainly been plenty to post about. I just haven't made the time to do it. :(
I'll make this up to you!
I have a special little project in the works.
I promise I'll be back with that soon.

Blog you then,
April

p.s. photo's in this post are of Joel Dewberry's awesome new line "Deer Valley". They have no actual relation to this post or said project. They're just one of the many things I could have blogged about over the last 23 days :)

Ohhh... and check out how one of our brilliant customers is using these new prints... HERE... in a photo from our flickr group.

Happy Birthday SEW TO SPEAK!!! :)

She's One!!

As of February 5th Sew To Speak has officially been open for business for one year!
If you receive our e-mails you may have already read when Anita wrote "Someone asked me, 'Does it seem like a year?' and I said, 'It feels like 5!' "
While it has been hard work, I do believe that she would say it's been equally rewarding. She also wrote that "
the wonderful part is all of you great customers. I love seeing you and sharing in the joy of sewing. You make my job fun and worthwhile. So thank you for a great first year!"

Getting her started early, Gammy teaches Aelyn to sew!

I want to join her in thanking you for this wonderful first year, but even more than that I want to thank her. Thank you mom for being so brave as to go for your dream, to open your own business and to walk through the fear that comes with taking a chance. And WOW, what an amazing result!
Of course I'm a bit bias, but I think our shoppe rocks! All the faith and hard work shows.
In this first year the shoppe's reception by the community has been awesome. It has certainly become a beneficial resource to our Columbus, Ohio sewers, even to sewers as far away as Suluda, North Carolina and Portland, Oregon (hi Shelly and Jane). People are coming to Sew to Speak for both leisure sewing and profession. Shoppers are being inspired and inspiring us in return.

The satisfaction received from making something to wear, carry, hold or just look at, something for yourself or for someone else, finishing something you're proud of, that you've invested time in,
that satisfaction is indescribable. That is what I feel Sew To Speak has become, a place to find, learn and share in that satisfaction.

An adorable customer shows off her great tote made in Amy Butler fabrics.

Our friend Laurie in her beautifully made Joel Dewberry dress.
(just look at those shelves behind her... a little sparse in the beginning, but now
we sit around trying to figure out where we're gonna fit the 30+ new bolts of
Alexander Henry due in any day now..)

Precious Anna poses in her purple skirt made from one of our favorite
Kokka prints. And of course her doll needed one to match. :)

Laura came in to shop wearing her gorgeous Barcelona skirt she
made in Pat's class last summer.

To honor the first birthday we have a celebration planned for
Saturday, March 14th
, 11-5
We will have a real birthday party with birthday hats, decorations,
great gift ideas and drawings where you could win a present.
We will draw a name every half hour from 11am - 5pm
and give away some great stuff.
So mark your calendar for March 14th

and come party!

Thanks for your kind words!

I've been checking every few days. Anxiously hoping.... wondering... "are people reading?"..

And you are! The word is out. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and compliments on the blog and the shoppe.

If you've stopped by the shoppe this week you may have been disappointed to find that our doors are closed. My mom, Anita, left for her very deserved vacation on Sunday morning. Lucky me, I'll be joining her later in the week along with my husband and our daughter. Anita will return just in time to re-open the Shoppe on Saturday, August 9th (11am- 5pm).

Soon after we return from our vacation... we'll be having an awesome Sale! To celebrate you, our fabulous customers. Our Customer Appreciation Sale will take place Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th. We'll have 20% off all Alexander Henry home dec and light weight cotton prints, all Denyse Schmidt prints, some Joel Dewberry, interlock, seersucker, voile, linen and more...
